Batik

BATIK EZ

with Crafter's Pick "Batik" E-Z Resist Medium

by .Delores F. Ruzicka, SCD

Materials Needed:

Crafter's Pick™ "Batik" E-Z Resist Medium

• 100% cotton fabric

• DecoArt fabric paints, choice of 3 colors

• Sea Sponge

• American Traditional Fish foam stamp

• Freezer paper

• ˝" wash brush by Loew-Cornell

.

General Project Instructions:

1: Iron fabric onto the shiny side of freezer paper. This is merely to stabalize the fabric while you are working on it; the freezer paper will be removed after the painting is complete.

2: Use the ˝" brush to apply Crafter's Pick Batik to the foam stamp. Stamp onto the fabric, repeating this step until you have the leaf shape in a random design. Let the glue dry or use a hair dryer to dry it more quickly.

3: Use the sea sponge to apply each color of fabric paint beginning with the darkest color, then medium color, then the lightest color. Let the paint dry or use hair dryer to dry. Remove the freezer paper.

4: Soak the fabric for a short time in a sink, remove the Batik by lightly scrubbing with a sponge or launder in a washing machine to remove the basting glue. Let fabric dry or dry in dryer.

Make whatever you desire…a pillow, a scarf, curtains, placemats, etc.

General Glue Instructions:

• Always test first for best appearance and results

• Work with materials and glue above 60°F.

• Apply glue and allow to dry 24 hours in warm room. For interior use.

Clean up: Use warm water and detergent.
